About

I am trying to work sustainably using materials I harvest myself when possible. When that isn’t appropriate I  buy from willow growers in Somerset so all of my baskets are hand made by me from willow and rush grown in the UK.

I’m very keen to encourage people to find pleasure in using their hands to create. Throughout my life I have used my hands to make, to form objects and images, to make clothes and useful objects and to ‘value add’ to my everyday environment.

My background is in both Education and the Arts. I am a qualified Artist, Teacher & Basket maker.

I run a number of different classes and workshops and my aim in these is to encourage others to enjoy exploring the qualities of using both willow and rush and to gain a deep sense of satisfaction from making.

Whether you want to learn the basketry basics, improve your skills, or simply enjoy the engrossing experience of making- I can help!

The courses and workshops I run rarely exceed 6 people as I prefer to give each person time and space to enjoy the process of making and learning and to develop their skills.

All of my baskets are hand made by me from willow and rush grown in the UK. Some of it I harvest myself and some is bought from the Somerset willow growers.

Most of my baskets are one-offs and are unique, even if they follow the same general shape or pattern. For example; a bottle basket will always have a wooden base and a handle, but the colours and weaves may vary.

I’m very keen to encourage other people to find pleasure in using their hands to create. Throughout my life I have used my hands to make, to form objects and images, to make clothes and useful objects and to ‘value add’ to my everyday environment.

I endeavour to operate sustainably and to keep my carbon footprint as low as possible. In 2022 I received a green goal award for sustainable business practise and I hope to build on this achievement further in the future.

I work locally, at home in my workshop in my garden in Aberystwyth.
